DAY 1: BALTRA – SANTA CRUZ HIGHLANDS – LAVA TUNNELS
Welcome to the Galapagos! Your Galapagos Multi-Sport adventure begins upon arrival at Baltra Airport. After passing through the national park checkpoint, your expert local guide will greet you and lead the transfer to Santa Cruz Island.
Our first stop is a private ecological reserve in the highlands, a sanctuary where giant Galapagos tortoises roam freely. You'll walk among these incredible creatures in their lush, natural surroundings.
Afterward, delve into the island's geological past by exploring ancient lava tunnels formed by fiery volcanic flows. Keep an eye out for endemic birds like Darwin's finches in the surrounding scalesia forest. We'll then continue to Puerto Ayora, where you'll check into your hotel and enjoy a free afternoon to explore.
📍Activities:
DAY 2: TORTUGA BAY AND CHARLES DARWIN RESEARCH STATION
Start the day with a scenic hike to Tortuga Bay, a captivating beach famous for its pristine white sands. Relax, sunbathe, or kayak through the calm turquoise waters of the bay's inlet, a perfect place to observe marine iguanas, pelicans, and juvenile reef sharks.
We will visit the Charles Darwin Research Station. Here you will gain a better understanding of the vital conservation work and successful breeding programs that protect the islands' unique species. You will also encounter Lonesome George, who became a symbol of conservation efforts in the Galapagos Islands and around the world. Despite being the last of his species, the Chelonoidis abingdonii, he never managed to reproduce. His body was embalmed and is now on display in the Interpretive Center.
📍Activities:
DAY 3: ISABELA ISLAND - BIKE ADVENTURE
Today's adventure begins with an early start for an exciting speedboat transfer to Isabela Island, the largest and most volcanically active island in the Galapagos. The island is shaped like a seahorse.
After checking into your hotel in Puerto Villamil, we'll embark on a unique bike tour of the coastal areas and islands.
By bike, you'll visit unique lagoons where colorful pink flamingos feed and pass through ancient lava fields. A must-do route is the Wall of Tears, a somber historical site built by former prisoners. It offers a poignant glimpse into the island's past. Locals call it the Wall of Tears, as local myth says it "emanates blood-curdling screams." Along the way, you'll observe unique wildlife such as giant land iguanas and various seabirds.
📍Activities:
DAY 4: ISABELA - SIERRA NEGRA VOLCANO HIKE
This day focuses on active exploration. After breakfast, you'll begin a full-day hike to Sierra Negra Volcano, home to one of the world's largest volcanic craters, stretching 10 kilometers. This is the second-largest volcanic caldera in the world and the largest in the tropics.
The hike will take you through stunning lava landscapes and offer spectacular views of the neighboring islands. Your guide will provide insight into how the volcano is a fascinating example of how volcanic islands form and how volcanic activity can shape the landscape.
Keep an eye out for endemic birds like the Galapagos hawk and the elusive short-eared owl as you tour Volcan Chico, a parasitic volcano formed by a fissure of cinder cones and lava, the product of eruptions from the nearby Sierra Negra Volcano.
📍Activities:
DAY 5: ISABELA - THE TUNNELS & LAS TINTORERAS
Get ready for an underwater paradise! We’ll take a boat to The Tunnels, a network of submerged lava formations that create a surreal environment. This is one of the best snorkeling spots in the Galápagos, where you'll navigate among whitetip reef sharks, elegant green turtles, graceful rays, and seahorses.
Afterward, we'll continue to Las Tintoreras, a group of small islets. A short walk across lava flows leads to shallow channels where you can observe sleeping whitetip reef sharks. Sun is named after the whitetip reef sharks that bask in the shallow waters of this location.
You'll also spot Galapagos penguins and a colony of playful sea lions. In the afternoon we will take a ferry back to Santa Cruz Island, where at night you will be free to explore its port.
📍Activities:
DAY 6: TRANSFER TO SAN CRISTOBAL
A day full of transfers! After breakfast, we'll take a speedboat to San Cristobal Island, a geological gem known for its abundant marine life. Upon arrival in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, you'll be transferred to your hotel.
The rest of the afternoon is free to enjoy. You can relax on Mann Beach, known for its sea lion colony, or explore the town's interpretation centers and coastal viewpoints.
📍Activities:
DAY 7: KICKER ROCK & PLAYA MANGLECITO SNORKELING
Get ready for an unforgettable experience on your Galapagos Multi-Sport adventure: a boat trip to Sleeping Lion, a magnificent vertical tuff rock formation.
You'll snorkel in a channel between the two towering rocks, a spectacular dive spot where you can often spot schools of hammerhead sharks, majestic eagle rays, sea turtles, and large schools of fish. It's also a popular spot for photography, especially at sunset, when the cliffs glow with orange and pink hues.
After this exciting experience, we'll head to the tranquil Manglecito Beach to enjoy a delicious lunch and some time on the beach, surrounded by mangroves and abundant wildlife.
