Cuyabeno Reserve Tour 5 days and 4 nights

Description

The Cuyabeno Flora and Fauna Production Reserve is located in the provinces of Sucumbios and Orellana in the Amazon Region of Ecuador. Its name is given thanks to the Cuyabeno River, where 14 lagoons are born, one of them is the famous Cuyabeno’s big lagoon. Get to know and travel through the Ecuadorian territory from a Tour to the Ecuadorian Amazon.

Itinerary
  • Day 1 - Arrival at Cuyabeno Reserve

    We will meet in Lago Agrio between 8:00 am and 9:00 am, where we will take the transportation to the entrance of the Cuyabeno Reserve, here visitors must register at the office where we will have a brief talk with our naturalist guide who will give you information about the Cuyabeno Reserve, important recommendations and other tips to start the trip. During the canoe trip you will be able to enjoy the wonderful flora and fauna of the jungle. You will also be able to see some of the 10 species of monkeys, birds and other jungle animals, depending on the weather. We will arrive for lunch at the lodge where you will be assigned your rooms and can relax for a few minutes. In the afternoon, we will leave by canoe and go to Explore the Flooded Jungle, to observe a great variety of flora and fauna such as sloths, pink dolphins and much more. Afterwards we will go to the lagoon to watch the wonderful sunset, we will return to the camp for dinner.

  • Day 2 - Canoeing and Hiking

    On this day we will take our paddle canoes and head to the Caimancocha trail. We will walk in the primary forest for approximately 3 hours while the guide will explain us about the ecology of the Amazon rainforest, its medicinal plants, the diversity of animals, we will continue with lunch and take a rest in the hammocks or rooms. In the afternoon we will take a catamaran excursion to relax and observe animals. We will swim and watch the fantastic sunset. enjoy dinner and take a night walk of about an hour to see arachnids, amphibians and, hopefully, nocturnal reptiles.

  • Day 3 - Visit an Indigenous Community

    We will meet very early in the morning to get to a Bird Tower, to see a great variety of birds and the beautiful sunrise. Then we will have breakfast and leave to the Siona Community of Puerto Bolivar for 1:30, we will be welcomed by one of the native women who will take us to the yucca plantation to harvest it. They will show us the preparation of one of their traditional foods, the casabe (yucca flat bread) and we will make it with our hands. Afterwards, we will talk with one of the last 4 shamans of the Siona tribe in Ecuador and he will explain us their cosmovision directly related to the Ayahuasca drink. We will perform an energetic cleansing ritual with chants that come from a millenary oral tradition. We will make a brief tour of this place in search of snakes, and we will be able to see one of the largest trees in Ecuador: The Ceibo, to take pictures and hug it for good energy.
    We will have lunch and return to the lodge in the afternoon, we will swim in the Laguna Grande and return for dinner and relax and finally we will take a tour in the Laguna Grande.

  • Day 4 - Ecological Full Day

    On this day of adventure, we will go out to the meeting point and we will be given the full day equipment (hammocks, ponchos, boots) to each one of us,

We will go by paddle canoe to visit "La Laguna Cananbueno", where we will see many animals, the walk through the primary forest will be approximately 3 hours. On each hike there is always the possibility to see new animals and receive detailed information from our guide about the flora and fauna of the jungle.
    We will have our box lunch in the middle of the jungle and rest in hammocks, then we will return and take our last walk in the Laguna Grande for swimming and at the end of the day we will go to the lodge where we will enjoy a special dinner with our guide, aq we will share our experiences in the jungle with a farewell cocktail.

  • Day 5 - Return to Quito

    We will wake up at 5:30 a.m. to end our trip to the jungle with a tour to observe the sunrise and a wide variety of birds. When we have returned we will have breakfast at the hotel and we will prepare for the return to the Cuyabeno Bridge where we will have a Box Lunch and then you will be picked up by a bus that will take you to Lago Agrio so that you can return to Quito either by bus or plane.
